Trails and Hiking

Old Man’s Cave Loop
This is the heartbeat of Hocking Hills. Stone steps wind you through a sculpted gorge with waterfalls, tunnels, and layered rock formations that feel almost cathedral-like. It’s accessible, but still immersive, like nature designed a highlight reel.
Am I in Oregon or Ohio?
Ash Cave
A wide, flat path opens into a massive recess cave. It is the largest in Ohio and has a waterfall spilling from above. It’s dramatic without effort. If you have kiddos bring your rain boots to splash in the waterfall pond.
Rock House
The only true cave you can walk through. Think stone hallways, carved windows, and a slightly rugged climb to earn it.

Whispering Cave
Less crowded, with a towering waterfall and a peaceful vibe. It’s a quieter counterpart to Old Man’s Cave. You can hike up to the Hocking Hills Lodge for lunch after this one.
Cedar Falls Trail
A short walk leads to one of the widest waterfalls in the park, tucked into a quiet, almost sacred-feeling hollow. If you visit early, there’s a stillness here that just hits differently.
(Handicap accessible path)
Conkles Hollow
You step into a cool, fern-lined gorge where towering sandstone walls rise like natural cathedrals and sunlight filters softly through a dense canopy above. The trail ends with a shaded, refreshing gorge, a trickling waterfall and a natural place to pause, cool off, and breathe before heading back. This is our kiddos favorite.
